Biography
Rebecca Menza's clinical role is as a nurse practitioner on the Trauma and Emergency General Surgery service at San Francisco General Hospital, where she manages acutely unwell and critically injured adults admitted to San Francisco's only Level 1 trauma center.
In addition to her clinical practice, Rebecca has co-authored several research studies which seek to expand the number of hearts and lungs available for transplant, and currently contributes to clinical research at San Francisco General Hospital with a focus on secondary prevention in trauma.
From 2008-2013 Rebecca was faculty at Victoria University of Wellington, Graduate School of Nursing Midwifery and Health, where she wrote and delivered a new curriculum for Nurse Practitioners within the Masters of Nursing (Clinical) program. During that time she worked closely with District Health Boards to develop the role of the Nurse Practitioner in New Zealand and has since been a formal mentor to several acute care Nurse Practitioner candidates. She also delivers lectures for the Masters in Trauma Sciences affiliated with the Royal College of Surgeons, Barts and Queen Mary University of London. Additionally, she has served as clinical faculty at UCSF since 2008 where she supervises AG-ACNP students.
Rebecca earned a bachelor's degree in Science (Nursing) from the University of Vermont, and subsequently earned a Master's in Nursing from UCSF. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
